Semaglutide is a GLP-1 RA better known as Ozempic® and Wegovy.®  There is a reason that this medication is in all the headlines; because it really works. Originally marketed to help diabetic patients, the drug manufacturer quickly realized that this medication far surpassed other weight loss drugs on the market.  The manufacturer completed a series of clinical trials, which demonstrated how effective this medication was for weight loss in patients with and without type 2 diabetes. There are also ongoing studies which look very promising about the cardiovascular protective features of this medication.

·   You have the option to come in-person or take home your medication, depending on your preferences.

·   You will get monthly vitamin injections that help boost your metabolism and counteract the side effects from semaglutide. There is an option to purchase additional vitamin injections for at-home administration. 

·   You will receive a brief prescription for nausea medication to have on hand in case you need it along with other strategies to minimize any negative side effects from the medication.

·   You will be given a guide sheet with tips and frequently asked questions.

·   You will have access to your prescriber 24/7- including optional general/acute health visits. 

·   Periodic emails that help you prioritize yourself and your success. Emails will provide a variety of information including exercise strategies, fitness opportunities, delicious recipes, links to helpful support videos, community resources, and Balance Wellness group events. You will also have access via emails to discounted vitamins and supplements to support your weight loss journey.

·   Quarterly group classes that are optional. With Rachel’s experience and connections in the Richmond wellness community, you will get access to free group wellness classes with your peers in the program. There will be exercise classes for every fitness level, nutrition classes, meditation classes, and more.

This formulation of water-soluble vitamins and amino acids improves liver detoxification, helps your body break down and release your stored fat, and enhances your metabolism. They can also improve mood, improve mental clarity, improve liver and gallbladder function, aid in the preservation of lean body mass, and enhance the absorption of essential nutrients.

Our preferred formulation of vitamins is specially prepared by a local Virginia compounding pharmacy. This formulation contains:

·   L-Carnitine: An amino acid made in the human brain, liver and kidneys that assists your body in transforming fat into energy. L-carnitine is important for heart function, brain function, and muscle movement amongst other things. L-carnitine supplementation has been demonstrated to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in some patients. When administered via injection, nutrients like L-carnitine can be better absorbed by your body.

·   Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): A water-soluble vitamin that your body uses to create energy and maintain overall cell health. Niacinamide’s ability to repair damaged DNA was even demonstrated to reduce the risk of patients developing new skin cancer or precancerous spots in one randomized controlled trial published January 2023 in ScienceDirect. It can aid in weight loss by helping to boost the body’s basal metabolic rate.

·   Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6): A water-soluble vitamin that supports brain function, the immune system, and the transport of oxygen around the body. It helps to create neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine to positively impact your mood. Vitamin B6 can assist in weight loss by reducing cravings and stimulating the thyroid (especially helpful in women with hormone imbalances).
